Last week, our teacher Kristýna returned to the 28th Annual Czech and Slovak Culture Camp at Sokol in St. Paul, where she led Czech language classes. This was already her fourth time teaching at the camp. 🌲🇨🇿🇸🇰

This year’s theme, Cultural Landscape in the Czech and Slovak Lands – The Forest Feeds Us More Than Food, inspired a week full of Czech language, songs, games, and creativity. During Czech classes, the children learned nature-related vocabulary and worked together on a large landscape featuring forests, mountains, ponds, and woodland animals. They also practiced Czech and Slovak songs and prepared the play In the Woods with Babi, which they performed for their families and friends at the end of the week. 🎭

Thank you to everyone who helped make this camp another memorable experience. We are always happy to see Czech and Slovak communities across North America keeping our language and traditions alive, and we are grateful that Kristýna could once again be part of it. ❤️

Today, we had the honor of welcoming a very special guest — Tomáš Foltýn, Director of the National Library of the Czech Republic. 📚
It was a pleasure to show him our school and our extensive collection of Czech books, which continues to grow thanks to the generosity of many supporters and friends of our school.
A big thanks to Mr. Foltýn for bringing us wonderful educational gifts from the National Library. We can't wait to put them to good use in our classrooms next September!

We're especially proud that our school could play a small part in this production. Since the company's performance in Chicago last September, we have been storing the beautiful Publishers 68 logo created by our longtime friend, supporter, and the man behind countless projects at our school, Vláďa Havlík, who can build just about anything—and fix just about everything. We were happy to help get his wonderful creation safely to New York for tonight's performance.
